How to get
to Murighiol
The good news, since many people ask: you reach Murighiol by car, on a paved road, with no boat and no ferry involved. The village sits on the southern edge of the Delta, at the end of county road 222C — and it is from here that the boats set off into the channels.
By car
Distances are approximate, measured to the centre of the village. The final stretch, the 10 km from Mahmudia to Murighiol, is the loveliest part — the Delta runs along your right the whole way.
By air
- Danube Delta Airport (Tulcea) — the closest one, roughly an hour by car.
- Mihail Kogălniceanu (Constanța) — roughly 2 hours away.
- Henri Coandă (Bucharest Otopeni) — roughly 4 hours away.
From any of them you will need a rental car or a transfer. Tell us when you land and we can put you in touch with local drivers.
By public transport
Minibuses run from Tulcea to Murighiol, but timetables change with the season and evening departures are rare. If you are travelling without a car, write to us before booking your tickets — we will tell you how things stand for your dates and help with the last leg.
Once you reach the village
The address is Str. Egretei 25. The house is easy to spot by its reed-thatched roof and wooden gates. You park inside the courtyard, free of charge, and if you arrive early we will keep your luggage until check-in.
Onward, by water
Boats leave Murighiol harbour for the Delta channels, for Uzlina and for Sfântu Gheorghe. The harbour is a few minutes from the house, and the early-morning departures are by far the best ones for birds.

Common questions about the journey
Do I need a boat to reach the house?
No. Murighiol is one of the few Delta villages you can drive straight into. You only need a boat afterwards, for trips through the channels.
Is the road paved the whole way?
Yes, it is asphalt all the way into the village, along county road 222C from Tulcea.
Where do I park?
In the private courtyard of the house, free of charge. You will not need the car in the village — everything is a few minutes on foot.
How long does the drive from Bucharest take?
Around 4 hours for the 360 km, provided you avoid the summer weekend traffic on the A2.
